I recently lost my OCing virginity because i OC'd my athlonxp 2400+. Havent benchmarked it much since i dont really know how but got 17% increase in 3dmark01. System is very stable under 100% load at 52c (according to asusprobe of which i dont trust much). Only problem i seem to be having is i have to shutdown my computer twice if i want to restart or turn off an on my computer. Seems very odd since its running very stable. i upvolted to 1.7 that didnt help so left it at stock. Any suggestions, am i killing my computer? Any comments suggestions and help would be appreciated, thanks!

AthlonXP 2400@2.166ghz 333fsb(2x166)
HD 40GB Maxtor (80GB Maxtor R.I.P died for unknown reasons)
(1x512)Kingston PC2700 DDR333 RAM
A7V8X-X MOBO

Does the problem persist if you put everything back to stock settings? What is your PSU?

It doesnt happend if i leave it at stock settings, my powersupply is a 350w enermax i was told it was HQ i payed more for it then any other PSU at that level. Should i try going above 1.7v. The only thing that seems outta the ordinary is the ram, it says to make sure the ram frequency is 333mhz or higher, and it is exactly 333mhz cpuz tells me a 1:1 ratio.

i have a 350w enermax.. all the rails are above there rating.. ex: 3.3v at 3.4 5v at ~5.2 and 12v at 12.30 (dont use motherboard to measure... jam your trusty multimeter next to the corrisponding wires in the atx plug/molex and use the case as ground)
i havent moded my power supply at all.. im glad i didnt.. my motherboard reports them low so i thought i needed to amp up the voltage

on the note of overclocking boot problem.. bios update fixed that for my motherboard.. as well as arctic silvering my north bridge and adding a 40mm fan to keep it cool once i noticed it was getting quite warm

Enermax is a good brand. I've got a 350 W Enermax in my main system as well for this reason.
