I was just going through my receipts, and I realized I went through a whole 11 systems in the year 2009. HAHA! WTF! In some cases, you can most likely tell that at the time I was in a slump and had to sell a system to upgrade =D. But, in the end - the only two systems I currently own are the last two posted. Enjoy!

In the process of going from #8 and #9 down to the #10, I had to sell #8 and #9 to be able to afford (my flavor of the month) a handgun.

And after I started to have computer withdrawls with #10's lack of performance or any "zing", I sold the handgun and started to buy the parts for #11!

That's a record even for me. In fact, I'm pretty sure I had more than just 11, I in fact had a total of around 15 (I buy & Sell PC's all the time - these are all the PC's that have had sizeable playtime, aka - two or three weeks or more).

Yeah... I had a Gateway desktop with a Core 2 Quad and an EVGA 8800GT that I forgot to post in here, just remembered it. Not going to re-do the numbers or add specifics though =P

Not to be rude, but how much money did you lose by buying/selling so much?

Oh god I don't even know..

Usually I'd make alot of money - but right after I obtained #8 I lost my job at Pearson Education, and things got REALLY crappy after that. Got married after I got #8, too =P So since then, it has been all buying selling and trading things to get what I've got today - including paying bills at home here

I'm getting the nervous jitters just reading your post. Seriously, slow it down and take a breath every now and then.

Also, #10 isn't really slow. An e8400 w/4GB isn't anything to scoff at by any means. The only limiting factor in that machine is the 8400GS. Also, why dual HD4890's? Why not a HD5xxx?

let's see. i'm 25. in my lifetime, to date, i think i've owned somewhere in the neighborhood of maybe just about as many systems as you had just this past year.

hot damn, man. that's a pretty crazy list you have there!

edit: holy crap! if i've counted correctly, that's 13 discrete graphics cards. (i didn't include the notebook gpus.) that's nuts!

what kind of income are you pulling in? did you cash in on a bernie madoff type of ponzi scheme or what?

I took a little closer look at your list of rigs, and as a fellow hardware enthusiast I don't know what the hell you were thinking buying multiple rigs with the same hardware. If you're a big time folder or something maybe I could understand because your discrete cards certainly fit the bill, but otherwise its just confusing and looks like you have a serious impulsive streak.

Sell everything except rig #11, get a CULV laptop if you really need one.

you are to computers as a girl is to shoes. None of those rigs even really come close to what you could have made if you would have ratcheted down your spending to like, oh, idk, 2 systems a year. (and here I am, going on year 2.5 with my machine)

They all look like they were loud, hot, and didn't preform all that much better than your previous.

Oh some equipment was re-used lol.

And I was fine in the post, I have no TRUE regrets with buying and selling computers. My wife was always by my side when I was selling them (and not so much by my side when I was buying them).

And as for the not purchasing the Radeon HD 5xxx series, they are simply too expensive for the performance they offer at this time. And plus, the 4800 series has been around for some time now and the driver support will be far greater than the 5xxx series for awhile longer. But do trust me, I'll be going for DX11 whenever it's more mainstream.

And as far as income goes, I buy sell and trade college text books and computers as well as I did work for Pearson Education. But right now I'm in the process of opening a woodworking business.

And Jason - I'm going on 22 but this at least is the most active year I have ever had with computers. This one year definitely amounts to more than the last 10 years worth of computers before it (probably 8 or 9 or so). I just like to have new things.. =D Except for my wife, she's here to stay!
