One of my 5870's fans just died so I need a replacement. I'm just looking for a stock HSF.

It doesn't have to be anything special, it just has to work.

Thanks

I picked up a replacement fan off ebay for my 4890—it's the exact model used in the reference 5870 cooler and was $15, IIRC. Easy to install and works great, though took a couple of weeks to show up.

edit: found it

I just got one these today, the fan on my 5870 starting making a loud noise while its spinning.

I've done the repair on multiple blower fans. The method of opening them is not always the same but it has always worked. The fan lasted twice as long with my lubrication than it did brand new out of the box!

You'd rather install a new fan rather than lubricating your old one?

How is that any less work?

Exactly, in both cases you are going to have to disassemble your cooler and remove the fan. Opening it up to refill with oil takes about 5 seconds. Now you'll have to wait 5+ days to get a new fan in the mail.

You're better off lubing it real nice and good. Make sure it doesn't squeak anymore after you're done with it since ordering a new fan from China would take a minimum of two weeks to receive it.
