I have a buddy with a serious pc problem, I tried eveything to help but nothing , Now I am here trying to get help.

Ok well I brought my computer with me from NY to UT in the box the tower came in with all the packing so it was nice and snug and was inside didn't flop around or anything. I hooked it up and it worked flawlessly for a week. I finally got the internet hooked it up and went right to Call of duty to play... It played fine for a day or two but all of a sudden I booted it up and I got AVG needs to close, then ATI control needs to close, then Modizilla and so fourth. So Im thinking great I got a virus. I start to run different checks and in the middle of an AVG virus check or Spy bot the computer just reboots. Not a blue screen reboot but a black screen and BEEP.... the computer is already rebooting. Nothing on startup to say system shut down the wrong way do u want to run safe mode, just a normal windows screen. I then try and try and some times it would finish a virus scan and find nothing other times it would reboot half way through. So I never did find a virus. I wait a day and then the computer wont start up past bios. I gwent out and bought a new hard drive... same one I had seagate 500Gb and install a fresh copy of XP... Though it didn't do it right away, an hour into using it, it rebooted. So I take it to the geek squad for there opinion.. They keep it for a week and tell me that they couldnt figure it out but its most likely the mother board (orginal mother board was an MSI 45 platinum) so I then went out and bought a new mother board (ASUS P5Q-E). I boot up and wambo it does it again in no more than five minutes. Im at a lost so I figure I'll try cleaning the new hard drive off and reinstalling windows XP pro again.... I get half way through the install and it reboots and will not go any farther.... I NEED HELP
