I haven't seen much information about the on-board controller included in the Z87 chipset. Are there any new, interesting or compelling features? Is there any guidance on how much aggregate bandwidth it might have?
 
One of the biggest upgrades is having six SATA 6Gb/s ports instead of two. That was one thing AMD was dominating over Intel, especially with FM2 A85X which features eight.

Haswell will be featuring higher BCLK overclocking. Before you could only adjust the base clock ~5%.

What about bandwidth or performance?

I know that the ICH10R on my X58 motherboard was only good for so much performance, even in a RAID-0 stripe. I'm wondering how far (if at all) the bar has moved for Z87 in terms of aggregate throughput, IOPS or RAID functionality. Intel was making slow but steady improvements with the ICH chipset through the X58, but after that I've heard precious little outside of having the explicit SATA3 line speed.
 
It may have 6 SATA3 ports, but the DMI is still limited at 2 GB/s as far as I know.
