When you were flashing the BIOS?

I wonder if this has actually ever happened to anyone?

Yes, luckily I attached the computer to one of the server backup batteries :D.
I have to say this was in a place where power went down at least once a week, so I took precautions.

Power didn't go out, but it sagged enough to corrupt the bios. Luckily a friend had a similar machine so I moved the chip to his machine and reflashed it there. I always connect machines to a UPS from that point forwards.

yes!
and the board was bricked, too.
It was one of those older "need a floppy" things, too.

Yep. pretty much. I don't remember the board as it was 15 years ago, but yes it was a hot swap. The only thing different was I took my chip to his house, booted his pc, swapped the chip and ran the update there, then swapped it back.

I had a corrupt bios and swapped the chip into a totally different motherboard while it was running to flash it.

I live on the edge :p
