My Paladin is level 60 right now. Took about 15 days to get to level 60. Now is not the time to worry because I have a level 60 Paladin. It's time to do all the fun stuff like do raids and battle people and do even more raids.

Now suddenly I'm faced with new challenges. I need my epic mount and a number of my Blacksmithing recipes need Arcanite Bars. Ok no problem I thought Arcanite Bars should be easy enough. I'll just get enough materials needed and bring it to an alchemist. No big deal.

Turns out it takes an alchemist 48 hours to be able to transmute anything after making one of those. Fourty eight f*cking hours? What's worse is that I've never seen an Arcane Crystal drop from a Rich Thorium Vein ever. It's insane.

Then I think back and wonder was it fun? I sure did enjoy doing raids and battling people but 95% of the time I did quests. I hate doing quests. Especially when it's a kill under something drops quest. That can take nearly an hour!

It's either wait fourty eight hours or buy it from the auction house. Ohh wait that's just as worse. I'll never have enough gold needed to buy the Arcanite Bars. My server (Greymane) sells them for 50g for each one. It'll take longer then 48 hours for me to make that much gold.

This game isn't fun. The only reason people play it is because they always get something new. Blizzard isn't stupid they give you a goal to get something that'll improve your characters ability to fight. That's the addiction and that's why people play.

So instead of fun I'm getting frustrated and pissed. I could just wait the 48 hours but I am too aware that I spend $15 bucks a month to play a game that is purely designed to keep you playing.

So now I'm going to contact Blizzard and demand that they change the time constraints in the game. Not just for the Arcanite Bars but for everything. Everything from waiting one hour to using a hearthstone or waiting till level 40 to even get a mount. I'm not a patient man. Hell I even use my N-Gage to watch movies while I wait on a line. You really f*cking think I'm going to wait 48 hours or pay 50g?

I'll have more fun playing Counter Strike again and again all day then waiting for their money train to roll in. They either comply or I'll cancel my account. I'll be sure to spread the word around about their retarded time limits.

I am seriously not a happy gamer.

Maybe so, and you're a screaming whining child. There's a reason there are cool downs on items. If the Hearth stones didn't have a cool down, you could warp out of instances and areas to turn in quests and/or being lazy. There would be not "Traveling" anymore. Walk there once then hearth/fly from then on thus taking any challenge of doing quests in new areas or surviving instances.

If you could transmute Arcanite bars anytime you wanted, there would be a surge of bars thus making the ingrediant requirements for high level items pointless. Yes, it takes time to make enough bars for items or they cost a small fortune to buy from the AH that's what makes those high level recipes HIGH LEVEL. If you could start a level 1 character and load them up with powerful items, there would be no challenge to the game and definitly no fun.

How would you feel if you had a quest that required killing an Elite that takes 2+ hours to spawn ONCE? EQ ring a bell?

If you're complaining about the cool downs for items, go ahead and call Blizzard, and while you're at it STFU AND CANCEL YOUR ACCOUNT. I'm sick and tired of people standing on a soap box complaining about a game THAT THEY KEEP PAYING AND PLAYING. If you don't like it, don't play and leave the rest of us who realize there's other things you can do while you're waiting for your Philosipher's stone to cool down ALONE.

Yea I loved to travel to areas I've seen again and again. It's because I've had plenty of time to look around since I had to walk everywhere. It got boring fast and it's expensive too.

Given that items do have a level requirement. Arcanite bars btw require you to be level 55.

Also last I checked waiting does not equal high level. Yes blizzard likes the idea that the more time you put into a game the more powerful you are but not 48 hours long.

How would you feel if you had a quest that required killing an Elite that takes 2+ hours to spawn ONCE? EQ ring a bell?
Blizzard could also change the time limit to a few minutes. It's never fun to run into someone you gotta kill only to have someone just killed him. You really want to go through all that again after waiting 2+ hours?

If you're complaining about the cool downs for items, go ahead and call Blizzard, and while you're at it STFU AND CANCEL YOUR ACCOUNT.
Do me a favor and grow up.

Had I known about the time limits this game had I would have never gotten it. I actually thought you needed to be level 15 to get a mount. I of course learned as I played the game.

The only reason I'm thinking about it myself is because I do have a level 60 pally that took me 15 days to create.

comedy gold right here.

Seriously, time limits are there for a reason. millions of people seem to think its ok (or at least undetstand the concept as to why they are in place) versus you, alone, who want to DEMAND Blizzard change their ways or you will cancel your account.

uh huh, thats a course of action that is neither lacking intelligence or any shred of success.

BTW, I hear that if you put a hat on a ball of snow in hell, it can last a rather long time.

you should write a guide on how you powerelevelled to 60 in 15 days...

now that's some heavy gaming right there... perhaps getting a life should be a higher priority

DukeNukemX : MMORPGs and Blizzard are not about satisfying your need for instant gratification  . Whether you like it or not, one of the things that makes MMORPGs addictive for people is the idea of getting something rare and expensive for your character, or completing a daunting task. If you could teleport wherever you wanted, get any item you wanted whenever you wanted it. the alure of the game would cease to exist.

Perhaps you should try a game with a slightly different than the norm attitude like Guild Wars, where items and character level dont mean much.

Disclaimer : I do not play WoW so I am not some fandude trying to defend Blizzard, merely someone making an observation.

I have never played a MMO for more than 2 days without getting sick of it so I guess I have a different perspective.

If you don't like the idea of waiting around forever for anything to happen why are you playing a MMO? As far as I can see that is the entire point of an MMO. You wander around untill your sick and tired of the game trying to find some little bobble that will increase your stats by 1 point.

I'm sure writing a letter to the company will get you a nice pre-written form letter saying get over it in a nice way so good luck with that.

If you don't like waiting around for hours to get an item why don't you play a FPS? You walk for a few seconds pick something up and kill someone with it.

I dunno like I said I'm not an MMO player so I'm just trying to put a different perspective on it.

I thought the alure of the game was to build up your character and do massive raids and beat the snot out of the Horde.

Remember that commercial that has that game "lets wait on line". That's how it feels like in WoW.

There are plenty of other ways to get things done in a game without waiting. Like making NPC's hard or just putting more NPC's.

Perhaps you should try a game with a slightly different than the norm attitude like Guild Wars, where items and character level dont mean much.
Seems like that with WoW. Except it's more important how you play your character.

For example my Paladin won many battles against level 60's while he was level 48. Not NPC's but actually players. Only NPC's seem to matter because if they're more then 2 levels higher then me then I'll miss like mad.

15 days to 60? If it took you only 15 days i wouldnt complain about waiting 48 hours to transmute arcanite.

Consider yourself ahead of the game - and consider it just that a game. At lvl 60 you need stuff to be difficult to get or what would be the point? Why would anyone play if the elite mount was at lvl 20 and cost 10g?

Yeah comedy gold. The funny thing is, lots of folks want more lvls and content BEYOND the lvl 60 cap. If Blizzard added 15 lvls and tons of 60-75lvl content, he would actually be sorta pissed off.

Btw for future reference a direct flight from JFK to LAX != tour of America. ;)

I don't know how you even play it. From what I hear about it, it sounds like a horrible game. I can barely stand the wait from when I die to the beggining of the next round in CSS.

Anywho, if you are unhappy then don't pay. That is the best way to show a company you are unhappy with its product.

That is only part of the alure, and that is where your misconceptions about the game are getting in the way. For most MMORPG's a big part of the alure is the search for a rare item. Look at Diablo 2. Many people did not play that game for hours on end to exercise their index fingers, they did it to get that uber rare item. If there wasn't a limit on how quickly you could get things in the game there wouldn't be an effort required to get said uber rare items.

You said that you were fine and having fun doing PvP with your level 48 character, so why are you so upset now that your level 60 and cant get some stupid items? Just go do some PvP and "beat the snot out of the Horde". I dont have WoW but I bet you dont need 'Uber Leet Sword Number 3' to do that.

It's just a stupid cooldown. I can't believe you are upset over that when it's not like you can't do anything else during those 48 hours. Timesinks are a part of a MMORPG, and this one is quite frankly pretty bland by regular MMORPG standards.

Here's my question to you, if the game isn't fun to you the why are you playing it still? And if thats the only reason people play, than you fall under that category yourself.

Personally I think the game is fun, the community of it is great. I think that having stuff being very hard to do is good, otherwise everyone and their mother would have it, and the defeats the purpose.

I took my time getting to 60, and spent most maybe 50% of the rest of the time in orgrimmar, 30% grinding battlegrounds, 10% farming gold, 10% raiding.

Yes, this game is designed to be a time sink. Like all good timesinks you feel rewarded at the end. (Wewt for starting to collect my tier 2 set and having 3 epic mounts from 3 different factions).

Yea but the chance of a drop is like going to a Casino. Something is going to drop and there's plenty of things that could drop.

There are many things that WoW does in a time frame that's reasonable but 48 hours for a Arcanite Bar? I don't remember how many I needed for my epic mount but I'm sure what ever the amount is it'll require me to look at my calender to see what time frame it'll take.

Plus there's my Blacksmithing skill. I shouldn't have ever chosen that skill. I should have just been a gold whore from the begining. Just skinning and mining. So far I haven't made anything that's crap my pants either.

Yea but if I feel I can be more powerful then that's my goal.

Haha i remember when i first hit 60 i was in a rush to do everything...its kinda a shock once you realize how much more there is, and how long it takes to do some of it. If everyone could get their epic mounts and the best recipes right away, then everyone would already have them and there'd be nothing to do. Its a different game once you hit lvl 60, and there's a ton of things to get done. That having been said, its too much time for me to devote so thats why i dont play anymore :)

I've been a level 60 since October and still don't have an epic mount. Granted I'm a Druid and have to pay 900g for mine, (or 810 with the Sergent discount) I've just been busy spending gold on other things like powerleveling enchanting so I could make Smoking Heart of the Mountain (I dropped enchanting and now re-leveling herbalism), or buying mats for whatever feral piece I'm currently working on getting crafted.

If you want to complain about the pally epic mount quest go find a pally that did it pre-patch 1.7. When Pristine Black Diamonds weren't the dime a dozen they are now and would run upwards of 300g on the AH.

Arcanite Transmutes aren't that hard to find either, just asking around in IF or Org and you should be able to find some broke alchemist willing to do it for 5-10g. Or ask someone in your guild and they'll do it for free.

Why wait and complain when you can just buy one at the AH, or trade any endgame high guild guy for [1 arc crystal+ 1 thor bar + gold]. Back when i was playing my guildies practically threw them away.

If you dont want to buy then go mine them at AV.. back when i was mindlessly hunting for arc bars i got 3 from one vein there over on hte east side near some kobold camps. You can also try Flame Crest in the cave.. ive goten 2-3 arc crystals every time its spawned there.

You should quit on arc bars while youre ahead though.. your a pally.. throw your 400 invincible shields and run away, or outlast whatever your killing.

DukenukemX: you obviously have never played any other MMO. Blizzard is cake by comparison. How about when you die, you die and have to restart your char? how about weapons that decay to 0 and when they hit 0 you have to get new weapons? how about LOSING xp every time you die.. pvp or pve.

seriously, if you want instant gratification there are a number of gold sellers on every server. There is a reason an arcanite reaper, perhapse one of the best crafted weapons costs you 20 arcanite. How awesome would it be if everyone on the server could get one in 2 days? You have to earn your gear. take an economics class.. supply and demand drive prices.. if you could transmute every 10 seconds or get 20 arcane crystals from 1 vein they would be worthless.

thats not power leveling, most people do it in about the same or less time. My first warrior took around 16 days. My pally in 14, but then my second warrior and warlock both only took just 10days.

You all realize that you spent 99 solid days in front of the computer playing World of Warcraft?

That is not 99 calendar days, that is 99 days = 2,376 hours sitting in front of the computer logged in.

By the way, one can get to level 60 in about 10 days played if you know what to do, even faster if you are powerleveled through quests.

I have played World of Warcraft since closed beta, but it is more of a social thing with my friends than an actual pursuit of success / accomplishment. MMO's are social, if you want a fast paced action oriented game, don't play an MMO.

so the i guess he just realized how much time it took to play wow. then he realizes the whole point of wow is to keep you playing so they can keep making money.

i find it interesting he didn't realize that at first.

blizzard: ok we're are going to spend over 4 years to make this mmorpg called world of warcraft and charge $15 a month. we are going to make it so that anyone can collect everything in less than 3 months. this way they can only pay a 3month subscription and be bored with the game even though it took us 4 years to develop it.

investors: omg, thats genius! cause the point of a business isn't to make any money.

Damn, it took me 30 days to get to lvl 40, and i thought i was bookin.

I guess you would never survive in Eve online. All skill training is time based, and the time ranges from 20 minutes to 30+ days PER SKILL POINT.

Remember, games are like life. It is the journey, not the destination, that matters.

-peace out

PS. My personal recommendation is to get a job (48 hours = 480 dollars) or take up blacksmithing in the real world. Sure it'll take just as long, but at the end you'll actually BE a blacksmith as opposed to just having some server say that you have an arcanite bar (010001110101000)

Why stop there.. lets take this crusade and crush all timesinks or waiting in every online game. Cash system in CS? Gone! We felt that waiting a few rounds to accumilate cash to be a waste of time. We also removed the need to reload or purchase ammo since that takes away precious gametime. Therefore every gun is an AWP with infinite ammo and no reload time. And what the heck.. since aimming takes time to learn and execute, we provided a built in aimbot. And since strafing and actually moving takes time. we provided an auto walk feature. God forbid you end up waiting to respawn in a new round.. we'll just do away with rounds and make everyone invincible.

So we have a bot that does everything for us.

Heck.. ill even link the mmorpg version

This post is so rediculous, demanding Blizzard reduce the time constraints... who do you think you are the pope?

Time constraints are extremely GOOD for a game. Especially when the game dosn't take much else as far as skill or time investment to become the highest level. I think it took me 50+ days played to get to 65 when EQ was still young. I know that from level 50-60 it was about 20 or more hours PER LEVEL, and the thing about it... thats what made the game great. You felt like you did something when you dinged level 56, 57, ect. You can't expect to be handed your high level gear, the only thing that distinguishes your character from another level 60 (besides your specs, which can be changed on the fly anyway) for essentially no work at all.

You have to come to the realization that if that seems rediculous to you that you shouldn't be trying to be "high end", playing an MMO at the high end is all about time investment and if that isn't for you... go back to playing CS the uberguilds and UBRS raiders won't miss you one bit.

And to the people that bash the guy that had 99 days played... yeah thats a lot but that counts 1. afk time and 2. a ton of raiding. If you choose to play at the high end you have to expect a time committment like that, although 99 days out of about 430 tells me that a lot of that time was spent afk.

You think alchemists have it bad? Tailors have to wait 4 days after creating Mooncloth before they can do that again. There's a 3 day wait between uses of the Salt Shaker for Leatherworkers. I do think that it's pretty dumb to tie all transmutes to the Philosopher's Stone though. They should have one specific reagent necessary for the mineral transmutes (thorium -> arcanite, iron -> gold, etc.), and another for the essence transmutes (water -> air, life -> earth, etc.).

As for finding Arcane Crystals, where are you looking? I can't say that I've gotten a lot of crystals (maybe 20, versus hundreds of thorium ore), but it's hard to believe you haven't even found one. Try running around Azshara or the Burning Steppes.

What are you honestly complaining about? If it took you 15 days to get to 60, you were going slowly. I grinded a priest to 60 in 9 days /played. She now has about 13 days on her and has mostly Strat/Scholo level BOP blues, 400g, and is a respected priest on Skywall. My mage has 43 days /played (I got it from a friend who leveled him to 60 then quit the game), has mostly Arcanist/Netherwind, and will be hitting Lieutenant General next week. MMOs are a timesink in general, but you can make your game time much my productive by doing pick up groups, PVP, or farming, rather than idling away in Ironforge or Orgrimmar like I see so many people doing.

There are likely hundreds of alchemists that can transmute for you and some people have alts dedicated to some tradeskill with a cooldown. It shouldn't be THAT hard to find someone who can transmute arcanite for you if you pay them a couple of gold. Runecloth goes for about 4g a stack due to the war effort on Skywall, so it's not hard to grind money now either.

On a side note, what would paladins do with all this arcanite?

Thats why I dont play MMOs any more.
I dont hate on them though as I understand that they are mainly Item searches and I just cant stand doing that. Ultima Online was great in its early days and thats what I think an MMO should be like. Allmost pure carnage.
