Has anyone tried gnome 2.7.1 yet?

I am compiling it right now, if anyone has it already, I wouldn't mind hearing about it, good or bad.

Hey... you're still around. You've been in my sig for years, I thought you'd dissapeared :D

No, I've not tried it but I wait patiently for your review. I'm still trying to decide which windows manager I want and am open to suggestions.

I've been poking around once and a while still :D Been hanging around genmay mostly.

Here are the new things I have found so far, most of them open with warnings about how they are definately pre-release ;) From what I can tell so far, gnome 2.8 will be pretty damn sweet

I might have to try going back to Gnome after seeing those screen shots. Will do more research later. It's just hard to give up fluxbox.

did you build this using garnome? I'm also currently building this using garnome and its gets stuck at nautilus-2.7.1 complaining about esound. I have it installed but it keeps saying

Package esound was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `esound.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'esound' found

I'm running debian so i installed esound thru apt-get. I also tried to install it thru source but that also gave me wierd errors as well. Configure went thru perfectly but during make it gave me this,

esddsp.c: In function `open':
esddsp.c:172: error: `RTLD_NEXT' undeclared (first use in this function)
esddsp.c:172: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
esddsp.c:172: error: for each function it appears in.)
esddsp.c: In function `ioctl':
esddsp.c:373: error: `RTLD_NEXT' undeclared (first use in this function)
esddsp.c: In function `close':
esddsp.c:392: error: `RTLD_NEXT' undeclared (first use in this function)
make: *** [esddsp.lo] Error 1

Any help would be great, thanks.

Portage on Gentoo pretty much did everything for me, all I had to do is download a tarball of ebuilds from http://www.breakmygentoo.net and type in "emerge -u world"

I would assume that someone out there has the binary on an apt repository that you could use.
