Has adding a subwoofer to your setup made a difference?

I used to have a pc and sold it. During that time I upgraded my speakers to the sevens from klipsch. They sounded fantastic and do the job more than I could ever ask for.

The bass on them was pretty good after putting them on speaker stands with foam. But the itch to buy a subwoofer was too itchy. I needed to buy one.

I purchased the SVS PB 2000 Pro sub and added it to my speakers. Gaming with a subwoofer is really nice. I never knew the quality of dedicated bass from a good sub before. It really adds to the immersion. Playing games now sound so good. The bass is def quality and playing games on my series x xbox is really sonically great.

I would without question not go back to having bass from my speakers standalone. The purchase of this sub made me realize how important good bass is, in music and gaming.

Any of you guys glad you bought a subwoofer for your audio setup? What kind of sub do you guys have? How do you like it?

I added an M-Audio BX10 sub to my setup years and years ago, can't remember when.
Mine has a foot pedal to bypass the sub and send the full range audio to my monitors.

It's too long ago that I didn't have subwoofers. I don't remember what its like.

My other speakers are no longer selected to work without woofer, so removing the woofer now would be an unfair test.

My living room setup is 5.3.2. I have 2 little 200w 8-inch subs contributing to the right & left channels directly and a 3200w Paradigm Sub-12 to handle all the bigger, deeper stuff. I don't really need the smaller ones but I already have them so I may as well use them.

In my room I just have a Samsung Q990D setup. It's a pretty small room so I can't really fit separates and a receiver in there. In a set up with small speakers like this a sub is even more important. I wouldn't consider the sub in this kit great but it's passable and definitely gets the job done.

The LF channel is, in my opinion, an absolute necessity for gaming and movies. Depending on your speakers and music preference it's not as important for music, though still preferred.

Most room acoustics are too compromised in the bass department without adding a sub or two. For my desk PC setup it's not essential since my seat position isn't in a null but it does boost low bass before 45Hz for my 8" monitor main speakers.

It depends what you're listening to I guess, but it can make a big difference even if you have full tower speakers.

This might be a bit overkill for my desk, but it was a good deal.

My crossover is at 60hertz. What crossover do you guys use?
on the sub or in your avr/amp?
on my amp i use 80. my options are 50, 80, 100 and up. i found that i lost too much bass from the sub at 50, but lost too much from the fronts with 100(default), so i landed on 80. then on the sub i leave it at around 100.

after re-reading, maybe you just added this to self powered speakers, which would be covered by that last part. id still set it between 80-100 and then play with it for personal preference. you do want a bit of overlap between it and the fronts frequencies.

I have my center set at 60hz, Right & left at 40hz and all surrounds at 80hz.

My stereo set has a subwoofer switchable between 90 and 120 Hz. I think I have it on 90. The subwoofer feeds the stereo monitors, so cutoff is the same.

I am not sure what the crossover frequency on my 5.1 set with a receiver is.

I run an SVS SB-3000 sub with a pair of Adam Audio A7V speakers for my PC audio. I know, the cable jungle needs some finesse. :p

Honestly even a cheap sub will help. I have a parts express 8 inch sub and it takes a load off my Polk r100 speakers. If I had more space I would go with something better but finding a "good" 8 inch sub seems to be a challenge.

Any difference between these two besides the wireless dongle?

they are the same other than that and the finish: "brushed black" vs "black woodgrain". how much? i didnt see that one and theres no price as its "undeliverable" to me...

I've had a Z5500 with a big ass 10" sub that's a monster since they released it many moons ago. The first & last sound system for a PC I bought/will ever need :)
