I wonder if that difference on 7700k vs 2700x in nvidia vs AMD has to do with nvidia drivers, since Frosbite 3 and newer iterations have shown use of more cores, so it doesnt really makes sense for a 7700k to outperform a 2700x for that much, even when the IPC difference isnt that large, unlke the game doesnt like mesh cache

In summary:
  • 2700X with 1080TI 122 FPS while with Vega 64 123FPS
    • basically the same implying that 1080ti = Vega 64 except
  • 8700k with Vega is 125FPS, same ballpark as 2700X, however with 1080ti it has a 30% increase to 158FPS
  • Thus 30% boost for 8700k with 1080ti while nothing for 2700X

It's likely some sort of developer induced issue, it's likely that Ryzen CPU's will get a boost after a future game patch.

Sounds like the 2700x causes a CPU bottleneck.

I have a 2700x and I am fine with 125 FPS. In reality I crank settings until I am down around 90 anyways.

CPU bottleneck with 1080ti not showing with Vega?

Typically, if that's the culprit, it shows with different GPU architectures, not no difference and a 30% one.

Interesting, that result makes more sense, and it's in line with most new games, ie not much of a difference. 8700k 142FPS, 2700X 141FPS at 1080p with 1080TI.

I guess it's not the game, but it's Steve this time around. He is a good reviewer though, so I am sure there will be a correction once he figures it out.
