hardware volume control

Hello there,
Any one there who knows where to find a schematic for a volume control for 5.1 sound?
i'm using the onboard sound on a asus a7n8x with the various speakers i had lying about.

Now, when i want to watch a movie a a other room i have to turn down all the volume on my comp. speakers manually. pretty annoying.

Hence: one knob that controls all the different channels would be great!!!

The Griffin PowerMate should fit the bill nicely. It has Girder drivers so you can control just about any program as well.
