Hardware suggestions for gamer pc

weve got about 2100 and so far ive alloted:

450-cpu
450-gpu
200-mobo
200-case
300-ram
300- logitech z-680s
50-HSF

total:1950 so far

weve got monitor, kb/mouse, and a HD

Im thinkink a 3200+ at least as far as proc goes, 9800pro for vid

I need some mobo suggestions ( if intel is cheaper ill go intel )
Also whats some good cd-rw/dvd drives that arent incredibly expensive, but i need some suggestions as to what to put that 150 towards plus some things i might have missed


edit: i just realized i didnt take into account a PSU but i think for 200 we can still get a decent case and a psu? more suggestions needed!

ya, if you shop a bit online you can find 9800pro's for about $235 now.. and oc it faster then an XT. gl.

Umm I hate to burst your bubble but the SK8N is for the Athlon 64 FX. What you want is the ASUS KV-8 Deluxe MB

Doesn't have the full 800mhz HyperTransport bus. It only runs at 600mhz.
 
i think the big thing is that the nForce3 chipset supports the 940 pin opteron's and fx-51's while the athlon 64 3400+ is a 754 pin cpu, put two and two together there, u'll end up with one giant fubared bent pin pile of crap
 
Problem with the SK8N is its socket 940. You need a socket 754 board. There are nforce 3 socket 754 boards. Most people though seem to be hacing the best luck with via solutions
 
Also keep an eye out for SIS-based boards when they hit the market. They seem to have a true AGP/PCI lock

Not true. NF3 is for all the sockets. NF3 Pro is Opteron only.
