Hi all,

I am running XenServer with currently a single windows 2008 STD R2 VM. I am wondering, however, how I can achieve simple hardware monitoring - mainly CPU temperatures without having to reboot into the BIOS.

Is there any utility available that can do this easily enough?

Thanks!

I had the same question myself.

There is a "Dell Edition" of XenServer 5.0 (and i believe 5.5) integrated with OpenManage.
You'd need a "My Citrix" account with privs to get it though.

If you want to run XenServer 5.6, seems you can get OpenManage 6.3 to
install - just have the latest firmware for your equipment.

This thread:

Leads to these instructions:

I'm in no hurry ..so if you beat me to it .. post back of your install success/failure.

Well - installation was really straight forward however you have to have root privs to enable the processes AND you have to enable them all individually and not just use the srv....sh start command

Unfortunately, however, it reports everything BUT temps :|

You know ... I have got to put the pipe down.
After re-reading this thread, I realized I assumed you were using Dell equipment.

I think it was because I had the same question and had been searching for an answer
at the same time you were ... only thing is ...I am using Dell equipment.

Sorry about the assumption/confusion.

So if you got that far.... do you have Dell equipment???
I think I read somewhere else that by default certain packages
are not installed by default - one of them monitors temps on Dell servers.

Well - as a matter if fact I do not run dell equipment BUT it still gives me a lot of good info. I then found out about lmsensors package which works great!
