A week ago, my computer suddenly turned off and wouldn't power up again (I was just web browsing when it happened).

I tried to isolate the problem and concluded that it was probably a dead 300W Enlight PSU (which was only 3 months old).

After swapping the PSU to a new 400W Antec PSU my rig was up and running again...but it just blew again.

I've had the new Antec PS for a week and my PC has been turned completely off for 98% of that time. I turned it on, today, and was working on a paper for about an hour and the entire pc turned compeletly off (but the case light stayed on). If I hit the power button, only the green case light comes on and nothing else will power up.

I never had any problems till I put the Radeon card in. I haven't overclocked the CPU or the Vid card and I have 2 case fans plus the 2 psu fans. I'm not even gaming on it.

My system ran fine with a Voodoo3 and DX8 for well over a year. The only big changes I've made since then was get the Radeon and update to DX 9.

It's as if someone pulled the power cord from the wall outlet. What the hell is wrong with my system?

You DO have quite a bit of stuff in that comp. Check your voltage rails if you can and see if anything is dipping below the 5% tolerance range.

i dunno if the 9800's have the same problem that the 9700pro's do but when i got my 9700pro i had similar problems on my KT3 ultra and A7N8X and it turned out i need to up the agp voltage to max (1.7 i believe, been a while) and i also had to get a bigger psu, ended up with a 500watt antec psu and haven't had a prob with my box since

When using name brand PSU's, pulling a little too much current usually results in the machine rebooting due to insufficient voltage, not the PSU going tits up.

That is alot of stuff in the machine, but 400W should be good.

Is the PSU well ventilated? It might be overheating.

Perhaps the problem is coming from outside your computer? Is there some new construction going on around your place? You might be getting some bad power spikes.

Also, you might have just gotten unlucky and have a bad Antec. Return in for a replacement and give it a go.

I turned it off for about 2 hours and I am able to turn it on again (I'm posting it from the said computer).

I think maybe my CPU is overheating and thereby causing my BIOS to turn the system off.

The antec psu has 2 fans on it, and right below the psu, there's an exhaust case fan. The case is pretty big roomy and gets good airflow.
