So after graduating I had to moving back home while I looked for a job and quickly got a temporary place and roommate. Turns out the people I am stuck with have been battleing a terrible infestation of German cockroaches.

I couldn't take the terrible sanitation practices of my current roommates and have found a different place I will be moving into soon. Seeing as how terribly difficult it can be to quell an infestation of this breed the last thing I want to do is take any of these bastards with me.

So what I am planning on doing is to be careful to not take anything that was near the main room they reside in(the kitchen) and place all of the belongings I am bringing in a closed room and set off several "bug bombs" to hopefully kill anything living.

Now from what I understand a lot of insects just love snuggling up to random circuitry, wiring and other tight places related to electronics. Though I have yet to see any of them near my stuff the few months I've been here I am planning on throwing my two towers into the room with the other objects I plan on bombing them just in case.

Now my question is can I harm any of the components in any sort of way doing this and is there anything else I can do with those of you who have had the misfortune of dealing with anything like this before.

tl;dr -
Problem: moved in with disgusting roommates found out there's a German roach problem
Question: Can i safely bug bomb my PC and is there anything else I can do to prevent bring them with me when I move out

Personally I wouldn't bug bomb the PC components. The vapors from the bomb are likely to damage plastics and corrode metal contacts. On top of that you would just end up with dead carcases inside the system that would attract other insects down the road. What I would do is take advantage of the fact these bugs don't like light

First take the usual static electricity precautions. Disassemble the system as much as possible, you want to expose every airgap to direct light. The PSU will probably be the most difficult to make sure its flooded with light. Then, leave it exposed to as much light as you can muster for a few hours. Finally gather all the components up, inspect all of them for anything that might have found a shadow to cling to and put the components in clean checked anti-static bags. Seal it up.

Take your stack of parts to its new location, re-assemble and check. Good luck, this is not a problem I envy you for dealing with.

Roaches also need water to survive. If you seal up your stuff and let it set for about three weeks. That should kill off the roaches.
