Hardware Firewalls?

Hello.

I'm a neophyte when it comes to personal computers which is why I am posting this.

A friend of mine suggested that I buy a hardware firewall to supplement the following security configuration I have on a desktop PC:

1. Privatefirewall (software firewall. Apologies if self evident),
2. BitDefender AntiVirus Plus, and
3. Malwarebytes

I'm running Windows 7.

If my friend is correct (and I'm not sure he is) can any suggestions be made regarding type of hardware firewall?

All comments/suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Completely overkill imho. Router's firewall, Windows built in firewall, and Microsoft Security Essentials is all you need for a good free and low overhead security setup, but the biggest thing you can do for security is DON'T RUN AS AN ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT for your daily use. Run as a limited user. Because anti virus won't help for situations where the user allows (however unwittingly, some Trojans can look very legit) a process to execute.

What he said. No need for a hardware firewall. The benefits of such a device are primarily for corporate networks where complex security requirements demand better performance and functionality.
