Hardware Calibration

The NEC SpectraView II kit I purchased came with the X-Rite eye-one display 2. The software has me place the X-Rite on the display when calibrating. I dont have to do anything after that point because the hardware works its magic. I would hate to have to eyeball all this stuff because then the results would be less accurate.

I have no regrets. ;)
 
Hey guys. Sorry to change the topic a little. But I have a 90 series montior with Vista 64. That is also the worst combo in terms of capability. I have Monaco DTP94 that is useless because it doesn't work with Vista64.

So now I am thinking another way of getting around this. Is it possible to move the monitor to an XP machine and calibrate to the monitor LUT or create an ICM profile. Then after that, is it possible to bring that info into Vista and make it work?

Any help appreciated.
 
Dont take this as fact, but I would say that if you are actually *calibrating* the monitor itself (i.e. the monitors' LUTs), then it should not matter what OS you use, upgrade to, etc. The monitor will be calibrated until you change the settings again manually via the OSD or via calibration hardware/software that will change the monitors' internal settings (i.e. again, the monitors' LUTs).

If you also *profile* the monitor and create an ICC/ICM file used for color aware applications and Windows, then you can always save that file and then use it in your new OS.

SpectraView II works great in Vista Ultimate 64 by the way. ;)

I don't think that's true. I have the same colorimeter. Although I don't have Vista yet, I thought I saw Vista stuff for it - it might be in the toolkit. I'll see if I can dig it up and jog my memory.
