Been hearing some things about people turning off the Window XP hardware accleration tab in the display applet to increase system stability and speed as well as some games don't like it with it on either.

Anyone have any incite into wether to leave it fully cranked to full or have it off completely?

Not sure where you heard that but keep that on full. Back in the day this would aid stability especially with crappy drivers but these days I'm pretty sure you should keep it on full, especially if you're gaming. Someone correct me if I'm wrong......

Turning it down can help with stability, but would result in major performance loss, as any 3D would have to be done in software through the CPU. Most modern games won't even run with it turned down.

Turning off HWA would make the CPU do all the work for 3D which would put it where pre 1996 games were :D

What I have heard is that bringing the slider down just one notch disables "hardware cursor acceleration" and helps with some stuttering issues. If you aren't having any stuttering or stability issues, leave 'er all the way to the right.
