Hardtime overclocking my 2.4A

I have a P4 2.4A cpu, I can get this thing to overclock at stock voltages up to a 175Mhz FSB. Once I go to 176 the system posts but will not boot no matter what I do to it. Here's what I have in my rig:

P4 2.4A
Gigabyte 8IPE1000 Pro
2 x 512MB Corsair XMS PC 3200
BFG 6800 Ultra OC
160GB Maxtor HDD
52x Lite-On CD-RW
4x NEC DVD-RW
550 Watt Antec True Power PSU
SoundBlaster Live!
Klipsch 4.1
Dell 2001FP

I'm using a Thermaltake Volcano 7+ to cool things off and I have the fan cranked all the way up. I've tried messing with memory timings, upped the cpu voltage and nothing works past 175. I can get the CPU to post all the way up to 192Mhz on air but it will not boot past 175. Am I at the limits of my cooler or the CPU, any input is appreciated.
 
what are you cpu temps.
what divider are you using.
do you have your pci/agp speeds locked.
what are the rated timings on your ram and what timings are you running them at.
 
At idle my CPU is around 42C running at 175FSB never really checked load temps. The AGP/PCI is locked the memory is set to 1:1, memory timings according to Corsair:

At 166Mhz rated for minimum of
Cas: 2
RAS to CAS delay: 4
RAS Precharge: 3
TRAS: 7

At 200Mhz rated for mimimim of
Cas: 2.5
RAS to CAS delay: 4
RAS Precharge: 4
TRAS: 8

For now while trying to overclock I keep the timings at their default speeds.
 
Um ok but why overclock the ram when I'm not even overclocking it past it's normal settings? Does extra voltage help stability at default speeds?

Only increase the voltage on your memory if you suspect your memory is what is the problem...increase the voltage and see if you can go those extra MHz. Also make sure your agp/pci buses are locked at default speeds.
 
Well I got my overclocking problem fixed and it was simple I can't delieve I forgot to do it. I updated my Bios and all is well I'm currently running at a 183Mhz FSB although I had to bump my voltage up to 1.5125. Time to test everything out and see how it holds up.
