hardrive problem?

Im trying to narrow down my problems.
Heres my computer.
3000+ 64
msi Neo2
160gb Hitachi oem sata
mushkin ram.


Ok so basically everytime i boot it goes to the start windows in safe more, safe mode with networking blah blah. I choose each one and it goes to the XP load splash screen. Then the system reboots. Everytime. So i pop in the XP cd and hit f6 to load the sata driver, and either choose repair or install. It says examinig hardrive and stays like that for 20-30min. Nothing happens. It doesnt take 15-30 to examine the 160gb does it? Is my hd busted?

You dont need drivers for the Neo2 board for SATA. Did you just build it and transfer over the HD from the old system? Try formating the HD and reinstalling if thats the case. You can also run memtest to see if thats the problem.
