My buddies Hard drive crashed, and i recovered most of the data, only problem is that his user account on the hard drive is locked and wont let me get his music off of his document folder.
your buddy had a password on his profile & there for you cant get at it. I think it uses the ntfs protection so you might want to try knopix & see if you can copy it that way dont know just an idea
