Someone forgot to feed the hamster here? The news is older than zim01 and that's frigging OLD!!!!

Seriously, how does the news get posted there? King wait for folks to drop him news articles? King ever post news on his own?

Anyone want to step up and help King (you need help on this King?)? :confused:

My .02 is this is a valuable resource which could be utilized far more than currently is. Front page of hf.com should not have 4 month old news on it, in my opinion.
 
Duster normally handles it, however he's been busy as of late.

As for if I post on my own, I do from time to time, if I run across something. However I don't normally have time to go looking.

News and guides have always been member driven, everything else I maintain on my own. From a coding point of view the site itself is huge, unfortunetly there just isn't enough time in the day to handle the news and guides as well(not to mention I am no novelist, think that has been proven enough.)

My days are jam packed, work, family, and the site, every few days I manage to get a few hours to sleep.

To give you a slight glimpse of what [H]ard|Folding looks at behind the scenes.

Anyway, if you run across an article that will be good for the site send it to me via pm.

Well if no one else wants to do it, I might be able to help. I don't have any official qualifications, but I can read and write.. and I do spend a disturbing amount of time in the DC forum, so I'm usually pretty up to date. Wouldn't take me much more effort to check out Stanford and the UD site to get updates.

I work at night but I'm usually exceptionally bored during the day, so at least it'd give me something to do. *shrug*

Let me know if I can be of any help. Hardfolding is a great site and it's a pity to see the news fall behind.

Please PM King and see if you two can work something out.
 
At the very least, anyone that runs across something folding related, whether it be something about the actual program or something like advancements in treatments or a publishing of results from the folding project can send King a PM.

Send the link and do a little writeup in the PM you send him. That way it's probably just a quick copy and paste for him to get it done. We don't need just one person doing this, everyone can help out. It's the best, and truly, only way to do it properly and keep everything going.

If someone else is found to coordinate to get things posted that takes everything they are sent and does writeups or fixes something in a writeup, that's fine. But for now, if you see anything, send it in a PM.

 
Wraith has been added as a reporter, Duster will retain his reporter status as well, when he returns there will be 2 people handling the news.

Smoke is correct as well.

catchup should be easy...there has been big news lately, ie, GPU, SMP, SMP 4 Windows, and PS3 news :D
 
I am still around... sorry I have not posted any news as of late I have been working 3 jobs as of late and never at my computer anymore :(

I also got a g/f that takes up any other time I have

I didn't think anyone read the news stuff, I use to post 2 times a week if not more and no one seemed to notice or care so I have not really been pushing to post like I use to. I asked for people to send me a stuff on what was going on or give me ideas and I never got a PM. Basically I got tired of trying to find news when no one seemed to read it.

I will be more then happy to post news and I really liked doing it. I will be glad to help out Wraith

Not my place, just throwing ideas out there...

Maybe this is the case? Could the space (hf.com front page) be put to better use with a FAQ/pictures/stats counter/something like that.

Remove the news and replace it with a different "feature" if you follow me. I'm not a web site designer so I'm having a hard time describing that I mean. Use the space differently.

My opinion is that since a large percentage of our team probably doesn't check the news at the STanford site , or the FC site on a regular basis, but they probably do check their stats more often at HF, the news page should be updated frequently, but also available with a single click from most any stats page (link in the corner or something...)
If we establish the HF newspage as a collector of news, not just an occasional repeater, it could be a place people go to on a regular basis... Yes, I agree that collecting the news is not a 2 minute job. Maybe recruit a few folks that do hang out on some of the primary sites regularly to bring the news over from those primary sites --

Yeah, it's a good idea to place a button to go to the news page. You can use the top banner logo as a way to go to main page.
