My raptor keeps seeking for like 1 second, then it idles for a second, and repeats.

Its a super fast seeking noise.

Its like a clock ticking but with the seek noise of a raptor kind of.


My HD activity light blink on and off real quick. I only have the services running.

What is making my harddrive do this? Every computer of mine has done this, but with the raptor the sound is more noticable.

Its driving me insane when i try to go to sleep, so usually i turn my computer off.

Is there anyway to fix this?
 
this isnt really a fix . but I kill explorer.exe when I go to bed and leave my laptop on. My seeks on the laptop are rather loud, it's one to two feet away from me so... This helps, but doesn't cure all the "tick....gr tick..... gr tick ...." I think it's common with windowsXP, I never remember these seeks on my Win2K machines back in the day.

suprised no one else complains/knows a fix for this
 
Yeah it didn't work at all.

It still made the noise, but i guess a little softer.

I am suprised to no one has this problem, or doesn't know the fix.
 
I'm 90% sure its a WinXP thing. I can't find a process/task that's responsible for it. My win2K box doesn't seek, drives go to sleep while watching DVD and if get back on the PC, I can open up a browser and check a few pages sometimes before a seek is even needed and the drives power back up. 1G RAM so I'm sure that helps win2k a lot. That's if IE was ran before the DVD played. Anyway, try SPCR forums or something, silentpcreview.com or whatever it is.
 
Yeah i don't ever remember my Win2k computer make this noise.
