Hey,
I have a big harddrive problem. My computer was running 3 harddrives. 2xMaxtors DM 10s in RAID 0 and 1 Seagate. However, I setup the configuration in the stupidest way possibe. I had one pci raid controller. However, what I did was setup the drivers for the PCI raid controller on the Seagate. And that SeaGate drive about 20 mins ago failed or it seems so. So now when I boot, the computer sees the 2 DM 10s in raid 0, however, after that the screen goes dark with just a " _ " line and thats it. I know the Maxtors are fine for the computer sees them, however, what should I do? How do I get them working? The seagate did not hold anything important, the maxtors did. Also anyone know the warranty of a seagate?

Seagate warranties are usually 5 yrs.

I take it your seagate was the boot drive? You'll need it to work again (new drive, rma, etc), and then reload the drivers once you're back up and running (should be able to dl them from a a website). The data on the RAID array should be intact (though I would use this as an impetious to backup your important data off the RAID 0 array).

yes it was the boot drive. So will any HD due or do I need THAT one? Is there any other way to just load the drivers onto that comp? ALso my mobo supports raid 0, would it work if I attach the two hds to my mobo?

Well you'll need a new HD to replace the one that broke. Once you get that HD installed, reinstall your operating system and download and load the drivers for your PCI RAID card, and you'll be back to normal.

Do not plug in your HDs into your motherboard's RAID. It wont work.

Ok, so I am using a another harddrive and it booted up fine. However, what if want to take that hard drive out of equation. is it possible now to get these 2harddrives in RAID 0 to boot independtly? I use a :
Syba SD-ATA 133R card 680-RAID.
When I go to the driver manager, it shows that the drivers are installed....so what should I do?
Basically, I want to know if and how its possible now that I can boot up into these drives to run them Without that other harddrive. The weird thing is this: I took an old HDD with windows2000 and hooked it up to the mobo. And thats it. Then when I booted up, the Raid 0 booted up fine. However, when I take the drive out they won't. What should I do??

If the PCI card supports bootable arrays, then yes. You would need to install windows on that partiton. You'll need a bootable widows CD, and in the beginning you'll need the drivers for your card, on a floppy disk. Install windows and you're good to go. This will allow you to boot from windows with only the raid array installed.

...I mean what do I do if Windows is already installed. Right now I have a RAID 0 config with Windows installed. I used to have a boot drive but that failed. Is it possible to get the 2 raid 0 drives to boot up by themselves W/O formatting them?

Yes, install windows onto the RAID 0 array. You'll need to have a bootable RAID array, w/ the drivers on a floppy disk.

What do you mean by install windows onto the RAID 0 array? I don't want to reformat the hard drives, thats the problem. Windows is already installed. So is it possible to just put the drivers onto a disk, bootup from the windows CD and press F6 and then install the drivers without formatting the drivers in the process?

Yup. You can install windows w/o formatting the HDs. Just choose "leave file system intact" or something along those lines when you install.
