i recently took a 40GB Western Digital harddrive from my old computer and added it to my new computer. i have two of the exact same harddrives in my new comp right now. the jumpers are set to Cable Select, WinXP read the new drive fine and everything, and i formatted it to clear all the old shit. i can play around (dropping, pasting, deleting, etc) for a few minutes, but then after that, the whirring from the drive gets a little louder and my CPU Usage skyrockets. what's the deal? would adding more memory (256mb ddr right now) help that out any? or is it a deeper problem?

I would consider the drive "questionable" until you download and run the WD drive evaluation and test software. Doesn't sound good, IMHO......

Good Luck - B.B.S.
