Hardcano 9 Temp Probe

You can see my specs in my sig. I have a Hardcano 9 along with a P4 3.0C. I'm getting an XP-90 + Panaflo H1B in a few days. I'm confused about the temp probe placement. The directions say to put it under the CPU, not on top, but then it says if you use a P4 tape it on the side of the heatsink. Does this only apply with the Stock HSF? Will it work fine on top or under the CPU with a Thermalright XP-90?

I have it on the side of the stock HSF right now and its highly inaccurate. I've searched Google and only came up with one result; someone with a P4 3.4EE placed it under his CPU and he says it works great.

So, where can I put it? Thank you.

how can you tape under the cpu? anyways i have the same question, but i'm using digital doc (that doesnt really matter though).

well still, i just dont see you being able to install it under the cpu
 
I don't have pics of mine right now, but I just taped the thermistor ontop of the CPU, with the tip touching the core. That's possible with the AMD XPs where the core is raised so the wire can fit underneath the HS, but yeah, you have a P4 with heatspreader on it... I wouldn't suggest taping it to the side, that'd be pretty inaccurate. YOU CAN thread the wire under the socket and put the thermistor there, I've seen it done before.

didn't know that was possible, but on my a64 3200+ (newcastle) its got way too little space to do that.
 
Thank you. :) I'll try to wire underneith the CPU. I got the Panaflo yesterday.. but will I get the XP-90 today? ;)
