Hard Reset - PC Exclusive FPS

Ah nice, I was playing properly for the first time last night getting about 40-50fps maxed out with AA but somehow something felt wrong, I couldn't put my finger on it, frame rate seemed OK, so did mouse lag and vsync was off, but something felt...off.

I turned off MLAA and frame rate jumped to about 50-70 and felt a lot better, does MLAA introduce mouse lag or something? I think it was very slight mouse lag, it just made the controls feel horrible.

Anyway I grabbed the CAPs, appreciate you posting the link.

The problem may be your dual GPU setup. 40 fps for CF/SLI will feel more like 25fps on a single card.

No it's not that because other games behave fine, it wasn't frame skipping or microstutter it was a funny feeling with the mouse, as if it was imprecise to use somehow, I don't think it was the frame rate increased that made it feel better to use, I think it's mouse lag with MLAA, from what I've read it's a post processing technique and so it might be adding a frame of delay on the output.

Crossfire has been fine ever since my 4870s I never get micro stutter or anything like that.

Well I finally fired up Hard Reset. Runs great on my system, even across 3x30" LCD's at their native resolution.

Yes, but I hardly noticed it when getting shot and stomped on.

Devs said on steam forums they are working on multimonitor patch.

That's good news because it's horrible on triple monitors right now. How did they make an exclusive PC centered game and not take into account multi-monitors?

I also have the exact same problem as PrincessFrosty. Something just feels "off" when I play.

I'm not really excited about this game. I play for a few minutes and I'm already bored. The engine seems pretty clunky to me and blowing up the robots is underwhelming.

And yes, I own the game. Thought I'd support I PC developer, but I'm not sure why I bothered now if this is the best they can do.

Have you tried checking smooth mouse in the control options. I think the weird crossfire behavior is what caused the mouse to feel "off" I felt that too, since installing cap 4 it feels much better.

I wouldn't call it horrible, Dead Island and Space Marine are horrible in 3 screens. This one is acceptable, pretty much like playing without hud.

Do you guys not like all man shooters or whats the problem?

I just finished it. I gotta say it was a bit short. But it was damn fun in that short time. The graphics were great. The game really looked good, especially near the end. The game SCREAMS for old fashioned deathmatch multiplayer. Hopefully they will add it later on, or as a DLC.

I'm having a ton of fun playing this game. I hope there is a sequel, expansion pack or even some DLC for it in the future.

Just got around to playing this - how the heck do you get past the big blue robot guy? I can knock all the orange parts off when he is on the ground, but when he turns red and starts flying I get killed before I can do any apparent damage at all. I feel like I'm taking the wrong approach, but I've tried the level about 10 times now (being able to quicksave when he goes from blue to red would be nice) without any luck.

Unfortunately I got stuck there also. Videos showed people using the railgun. So I restarted my game and it was much easier. Kill the other bots before entering the arena and you will have plenty of health and pickups

Hiding behind one of the pillars, I found the RPG with the split addon to work best. Add some rail gun with x-ray scope and you're all set.

Yeah - the hiding behind the pillars idea was the winner. Used the "charge mode" on the plasma gun and was able to kill him pretty quick.

This game was incredibly fun and adrenaline pumping.

Also, it looks and runs better than most contemporary games. I guess that's what happens when you don't port it from a console!

I've got a laptop with an i5 540m and a Radeon 5650M, and I'm playing fluidly on Ultra.

hope they make some DLC for it. I got 13 hours out of it with exploring and replay, so I feel I got my moneys worth, but I wants more!!!

I think that boss when he turns red and floats spawns some kind of energy cells on the 4 pillars, I just hide behind them until he's blown them up trying to shoot at you, once they're all dead you can take him out in a few shots.

It wasn't at all clear if shooting them yourself actually did much good, it didn't seem so.

looks like I made the right choice in waiting to get this game...

Kalypso Media has announced they will publish Hard Reset: Extended Edition, an expanded edition of Flying Wild Hog's cyberpunk shooter to be released in March 2012. What's New:

-Five new levels (adding approximate two hours of gameplay to the original game)
-Four new enemies, one new boss character
-Updated graphics engine
-Additional gameplay elements
-New back-story
-Two new levels for survival mode

** it hasn't been revealed if gamers who purchased the game via digital distribution will be able to pick up the extra content without shelling out full price

Patience is a virtue. I hope the early adopters get the new goodies, but I will definitely support in march. I'm glad I waited. Also the game came at a bad time as I had several birthdays/birthday parties pending.

I hope they hook up the original purchasers of the game. Even if they don't, I got my $20 worth out of it anyway.

strange that they are updating the graphics engine as everyone said the game looked great when it first came out...the rest of the new content sounds great as well- new enemies, new levels, new back story etc...it would be messed up if they made the people who paid for the original pay again :D

Hmm as someone who pre ordered it would be a bit gay to have to pay full price to get the additional content. Hopefully they'll do it as a nominal cost DLC.

This is propably true for all PC games to wait out the bugs and mods. However Hard Reset was stable and very playable at release, tho patches did make it even better.

I remember Doom having around 10 missions each episode so 5 seems low. It propably takes more resources to make levels now than back then?

Anyway, can't wait!

Glad to see the new Extended Edition is coming. I just got around to trying this and am loving every minute of it!

Yeah the ending is almost on par with Rage, I think they more or less admitted that the story was cut short in many ways to launch the game on time, no surprise from an indy dev and honestly not a problem because it was priced right to compensate.

The story is batshit insane anyway, it's like hideo kojima cloned himself 50 times and then made some kind of super crazy mutant from all of the lesser crazy ones and then that super mutant wrote a crazy story on a deck of cards and then shuffled them...while drunk.

This just blew my mind. :)

I bought it for $5 during the Steam holiday sale and enjoyed every minute. After recently playing Quake 2 to completion for the first time (yeah, I know), I found Hard Reset to capture most of what made Quake 2 fun.

A brilliant game for how it played and I'd love to see how they handle a sequel.

Yeah, I'm enjoying this old school shooter, halfway through it right now!

The graphics in this game are very impressive especially because my rig runs it so well. I'm still interested in knowing more about this version 1.5 and if the current owners of the original get to get the upgrade for free.

somehow this was kind of boring for me to play. gfx looks nice and stuff. it really seems like a old skool shooter. serious sam 3 was much better

It aimed to be an old school shooter so I guess it hit its mark (pun intended).

Personally I really enjoyed this game, it was worth my $27 when I bought it at launch at Steam. I heard they were going to make DLC for this game which includes more missions. Sounds interesting.

The way that the game is structured is pretty good, the upgrade system is good, nano-hunting is fun...but the shooting itself kinda sucks. Shooting enemies doesn't feel satisfying at all.

Well, after getting deep in the game I'll say this...it can be damn hard. I'm playing on Normal and find it challenging, even frustrating. So much happening at once. Maybe I haven't been upgrading these weapons appropriately, but it's harder than the run of the mill.
