I'm surprised to see there isnt one already? I searched the forums..

WhatPulse tracks how keys are pressed on your keyboard, how many times you click your left and right mouse buttons individually, and how far you move your mouse (measured in miles), and displays statistics. Its pretty cool.

It is NOT a key logger. You can have it record how many times you push each button, but it will never record full words or anything like that. There is no security risk.

I created a HardOCP team here:

Hope you guys will enjoy this as much as I do. I find it interesting to see how many things I've typed during any given day..

Yea, it tracks distance. You'll see when you run the program.

When you first run the program it will ask for your name, profile name (you have to make a profile on the site, like "main computer", or "gaming computer", or "laptop"), and team name.

I'm a sucker. I've had my MX700 duo for over four years now. I'm sure I've clicked it millions of times.

I'm in.

I think it sometimes affects my mouse sensitivity. Suddenly it'll be really slow for a second or two, especially when I click on the tray icon. I hope it doesn't annoy me enough to make me uninstall.

Hmm. I've never had a single problem with it. It shouldnt affect anything you do. All it does is record numbers.

Bump.

There are WhatPulse teams comprised of thousands of people. We have three.

Heck yea man. Evidently nobody else thinks this is cool or something. We have a 45,000 strong folding@home team, and a 3 strong whatpulse team. lol.

Granted, Folding benefits the world, and WhatPulse is just a novelty.

But still, we're geeks.

alright, I'm in. I use 3 pc's regularly, so this should add up pretty quickly.

I don't know why, but my profile doesn't track my miles and such. I noticed that another member also has all 0s in that table. Did I not do something? I only created one profile 'cause I don't use my laptop. Others have one profile and their totals are being tracked.

Also, join up! Eleven members and counting.

I just installed mine, and it auto started tracking.. Mouse miles dont gain very much very quickly, and they go by hundredths or less, so it might say 0 for a while until you move your mouse a lot.

so there, I joined up. Happy now? let's see how it works for me and how "productive" (e.g. posting wise ;) ) I am

edit: decided it was too stupid -> quit. Also, the project is not open source, so how do I know that they are not logging my keystrokes? I mean saying it is all nice etc., but MS also told us for ages that WinXP was secure...

But if you look at team stats and then at my profile overview, it has all 0s. And I'm sure by now I'd have some mileage.

you have to right click the icon in the tray, and click "pulse"
No. I do that all the time. My stats are up there under recent pulses, but my profile overview is empty. Vice also has this problem.

I just joined up...

but shouldn't you get permission from kyle to use [H]ardOCP?

I dont know.. This thread has been up for a while and he hasnt said anything..

I didnt even think about that..

I am not sure if Kyle reads every thread on this board. Shooting him a PM may be a good idea? At the least it'd be a courteous thing to do.

I joined. It's a real eye opener to see the abuse hardware goes through in simple day to day use. 12 million+ clicks? That blows me away.

Supposedly standard keyboards are only supposed to last 10-12 million key pushes. Where the higher end gold plated switch ones are supposed to last 50 million.

Xaeon has been a participant since 2006-11-20 (3 days ago), and in that time has typed 52,016 keys, clicked 32,548 times and moved his or her mouse for 1.88 miles. Averaging 0.17 keys and 0.11 clicks per second.

My god, at this rate in one year I'll be at nearly 6.5 million key presses. I can't believe I do that.

astrogiblet has been a participant since 2006-10-24 (4 weeks ago), and in that time has typed 679,599 keys, clicked 83,163 times and moved his or her mouse for 10.9 miles. Averaging 0.25 keys and 0.03 clicks per second.

I'll be at a little over 9 million..

Bump for recruiting! Seventeen members. Let's get some more. We're climbing quickly up the ranks...not that that's the goal. :p

I'm getting massive token errors. :(

If I reset my token, I lose my specs.

I have 59,000 keystrokes waiting to be registered right now.. and another 5 or so on my lappy..

Arg.
