So I finally got around to installing my two WD 500AAKSs that I have had lying around for the last couple of months. So i hooked them up, booted up the computer and went into the BIOS to make sure everything was detected properly. Everything looks fine, so I continue onto windows and try to find the drives, but windows does not recognize them/ does not acknowledge their presence. Any ideas on what I did wrong/didn't do/what I can do to get windows to recognize my drives? Thanks for all of your help!

Maybe try booting w/just 1 drive installed to reduce power drain/system shock?

You've probably got the SATA & Power cable in good, but it wouldn't hurt to double check the SATA routing. Surprisingly, hard bends & proximity to RFI/other cables or power lines can cause havoc on typical thin, non-shielded cables

Use Disk Manager, the drives probably havent been initialised.

^^ That's what'd I'd say too. I had to do that to get my new Seagate to work a few months ago.
