Hard drives with windows 8 on them

Why when i plug a hard drive with windows 8 through a Sata bridge it doesn't always show up as a mountable device on windows 7.

80 percent of the time of it wont and 20 percent of the time it will, 80 percent of the time it wants me to initialize the disk

Keep having this problem all the time with different peoples computers with windows 8.
