hard drive/windows problem, plz help

im having problems with my hard drive on startup, it says somethings wrong with windows. it says i need to run checkdisk on drive F and try uninstalling the drivers. but the thing is it doesnt let me get into windows to run checkdisk, i cant even get into safe mode. the error comes up before i can react to anything. do any of you know what this problem is? and how to fix it? all info would really be appreciated, thank you
 
Not sure what your specific problem is from your post but I can tell you how to run chkdsk. boot from your windows cd and choose recovery console when it give you the option. Once there, log onto the windows install and type "chkdsk /r". That will run chkdsk for you.

If you want more specific help be more specific in your description....
 
Try booting off cd... if not follow these steps once in windows ( if you ever get in ) Go into My Computer and right click on the drive you are having trouble with. Then proceed to properties then to tools. Under error checking press check now. It won't run in windows and will asked you if you would like to run error checking (chkdsk) upon next restart press ok and restart your computer. After restarting Check Disk should start. Let it run it will take a good 30 minutes if you have enabled the Auto fix of system files, and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. Good Luck!
 
thank you for your help, sorry i wasnt very specific. its my bros problem and since he cant post himself i had to go off of what he said. since we dont live in the same household it was kinda hard to get what he was saying. but thanks alot, ill reply when im through with this on whether it works or not
