Ok so, i had a hard drive failure a 3 weeks ago, and i finally got it back from seagate, new when i installed it, it was visible from my mobo but not it vista. so i threw in my vista disk and formatted. still doesnt show, so i threw in my win 7 disk and installed teh os. its visible. but when i went to my vista install it still doesnt show up. what gives.

We dont know how many drives you should have so that is little help.
Is the drive present in Disk Manager?
Do all partitions on that drive have drive letters?

I have 3 Disk drives.
1 WD-1 terabyte
1 Seagate 500gig(the one i got back from seagate)
1 Seagate 320gig
1 DVD drive
1 Blu Ray
The drive is not present in disk manager,
and all the other drives have letters
and all of the drives show up in win7

How are the hard drives connected (IDE/SATA/Different SATA controllers)? Do you have drivers for all of your hard drive controllers installed in Vista?

No, i have no use for a bit encryption on my drives, im thinking about fucking throwing vista out altogether since i can get win7professional for 45(download and disk mailed to me)

I suspect you have plugged the drive into a controller that you havent installed the drivers for.
ie an onboard RAID controller.
