Hard Drive Spins Down

Hi everyone --

I have an issue that is really driving me nutty:

I just got a new motherboard/processor, so I'm combining my parts to make one very nice computer. Except I'm having one issue with the hard drive:

I have a 300GB Seagate (16MB cache) set as drive c: with XP MCE 2005 installed on it. For some reason this drive will spin down after about 10 minutes of inactivity even though I have the power options in the windows control panel set to "Never" to turn off the drives. Then after it has spun down, If I move the mouse or something, it shows me the hourglass cursor for a second or two while I hear the drive spin back up. I really don't want the drive to be turning off and on all the time, but I can't seem to figure it out.

As long as I'm doing something, the drive never turns off, but it only spins down when idle for like 5 minutes. I know it's not good for the drive to keep turning on and off every time I take a break or get a phone call.

The drive is brand new, and I used it for a short time with a previous motherboard with XP Home, never noticed this issue.

My new motherboard is a MSI MS-7184. I don't see any options in BIOS that would affect this. Anything I should look for there?

I have another hard drive set as a slave (Seagate 200GB, 2MB cache).

This is what I see in my power management settings in BIOS:

Interestingly, the HDD Power Down is Disabled, but it can also be set from 1-15 minutes Anything I can do here?

Or is it really not that bad for the drive to be spinning up and down like this?

Any ideas?

I can't seem to get any good answers any where and I'm about to give up :(

I had this drive in a PC before now, and it never did this, so I don't think the drive is turning itself off. Or could that change?
 
Try going to control panel, performance and maintaince, power options, and changing your hdd settings there
