i have 2 hard drive both are seagates a 160gb and a 40gb. I have windows installed on the 160gb partitioned into 2. C drive and a drive for my movies. THen for my 40gb is also partitioned into 2 drives. one for music and one for random stuff. my problem is when i open my drive for movies it really is slow opening and loading the movies. Even when i am just in the folder looking for a movie it is really slow. sometimes is freezes for a bit then loads. i duNo if its because i dont have RAID setup or Sata drives. they are just standard IDe drives.

Do you have the "Thumbnails" view turned on? Try "Details" and see if that improves speed.

ya its off....that slows it down even more if it is on...but its slow without thumbmail

Hey antok86

Just curious here:

How many movies do you have on this specific volume?
"total space used"

Are the HDDs both connecting at the same speed (ATA 100/133)?
A difference here will dramatically hinder disk performance...

I'm not sure if I'm on the right track here, but I'm trying...

Hope It Helps!!!
