Hello,
I currently have 8 Seagate 7200.11 1.5tb harddrives that I'd like to run in ZFS. I'd like to buy a couple more so that I could run RAIDZ2. However, that brand/model of drive is becoming difficult to buy. So I was wondering:
1. What's an alternative model/brand of 1.5tb drive that would "play" well with these?
2. Going forward, I'd like to "upgrade" the pool by replacing drives every now and then (ie. when a drive dies, replace it with a 3tb). I believe the 1.5tb are currently 512kb. Hard drives going forward are 4k. Should I set them to 4k to make replacement easier in the future? If yes, what's the best way to do so?
3. When I want to expand, would I just be better to wait and buy 4k drives and start a new pool?
4. What are other people's plans for drive replacement going forward with ZFS? What will be your replacement for your brand/model?
Any input appreciated. Thanks.
