So my parent's hard drive crashed. It makes 2 clucnking noises after they turn it on. I think the heads have crashed. Anything I can do (I don't think there is) or does anyone recomend a good place that recover disks? Also what kind of prices will they be looking at for recovery?

thanks

You could try cooling it and throwing it in another computer, to see if you get anything out of it. (Plastic bag + freezer is the usual way)

Otherwise, you're looking at lots of money. Hd recovery is expensive.
I don't know how good these people are, but they're the US partner of a company I would recommend.

The freezer trick *does* work, but only for about 5 minutes... so you better know exactly what data you want, and get it off quickly.

:)

Good luck, and make sure you emphisize the *backup* aspects of a computer!
