Hey guys I am thinking about buying a 320GB laptop Hard Drive that has a data Xfer rate of 3.0GBPS my current laptop's hard drive xfers at 1.5GBPS and its SATA. Do you know if my laptop will xfer at 3.0GBPS or 1.5GBPS with the new hard drive? Thanks

Well if your laptop supports 3.0gbps it will use that connection speed, but honestly it really doesnt matter and no single drive can saturate the SATA 1 spec yet.

Google for a review of the actual drive model, either a full review or user-review (Newegg, etc.).

SATA rating means nothing. What you should look for is actual practical measured numbers for data throughput, random access time and burst speed from an actual drive benchmark such as HDTach, HDTune, etc. Compare those numbers with other candidate drives and pick one.

Hope this helps!

First off Newegg reviews are shit.
Half of those reviews are from people who dont actually own the product.
The other half dont know WTF they are talking about.

True true, but he was right in pointing the OP to reviews of the product in question, ah well. Those neweggers are a silly bunch, though.
