Hard Drive partition vanished!

30gig storage drive

I just rebuilt my in-laws machine to the above specs. The problem is the partion on the 30gig storage drive just vanished! Both drive on the RAID cannectors, but not in RAID. That can't be the problem as I have had a 60gig on the RAID connectors for over a year when it was in my wife's rig.

Could the problem be with the jumpers on the harddrive? I don't know if I sset them properly as I was in a hurry to put their system together. I set them from slave to what I thought was master.

If this post makes any sense, it will be a miricle. I'm really tired.
 
A bad jumper is not going to overwrite your partition table(s), but rather is going to show by having the drive not detect at POST or not show up at full size (i.e. 2GB clip). An OS installation, however, may well nuke your partition tables if you're not careful.
 
That's what I thought too, but after I got them to set the jumpers correctly and reformatting the drive, everything works fine.
