Help,

I partitioned a 60 gig hard drive, that i had set up before, and now i cant get it to show the correct capacity in fdisk. Even when i install windows, the capacity is still 32 gb. I had it running at 60 before. I know that fdisk has troubles with this, but there must be a way as i ve done it, just not sure how to again.
Also I downloaded the xp start up disk(s) from bootdisk.com and when i get to disk 5 in the intallation prodecure it says the cd drivers are corrupted. Is this just my machine?

Thanks

Stephen

Don't use fdisk, use the utility that comes built into the windows xp install...and use NTFS for sure...

Make sure you have no logical partitions as well. May sound dumb, but people over look it all the time. You "should" be able to get full capacity just by messing around with Fdisk

Its ntfs, well i convert it to it during the xp installation. I cant use the utility built into the xp install because it puts setup files onto the hard drive so it doesnt let you format or do anything. Oh frustration!

Keep the ideas coming if you can, thanks for the help.

Get a boot disk of any kind with a formatting utility and clear the drive completely. Install XP and use the built in format utility during the install and use NTFS. Plain and simple, as listed before.

If your using a pirated non-bootable copy, this may be the case. If you have a legitimate CD, nothing is written to the drive until after the formatting.
