I have a fairly old Western Digital 45gig drive. When I boot a system with the drive installed the drive makes a noise that sounds kinda like a laser is shooting from it. It's being made by a speaker inside the drive, not by the mechanics of the drive. I can't find anything that tells me what it means, but I know it's not good (the drive just doesn't seem to work other than to make this sound). I just want to know what's wrong with it so I can possibly get my data off of it.
