Hard drive LED and dvd drive LED lighting simultaneously

I just bought a nec dvd burner, and after I installed it, I found that everytime the LED lights up on the dvd drive (like when first putting in a cd), the hard drive led on my case lights up at exactly the same. I had a old dvd drive in the same spot that never did anything like this. Am I missing something? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
