I just installed a brand new SSD drive my first one ever..My previous build was 2 7200 80 gig HDDs in raid 0. Once I installed my OS on the SSD drive & booted up my other hdd were not recognized anymore..They would show up under device manager but in windows I could not access them...Also in BIOS they both show up but I cannot access anything on them...How do I get access to them again?!?!
 
There are no raid 0 drivers on the driver disc that came with the mobo.. I want to disable the raid & have two seperate hdds...
 
Did you move the 2 RAID0 striped drives from the physical SATA ports that they occupied prior to the installation of the SSD?
 
Yes i think I did. They were actually hooked up to the SATA 3 side ports lol I moved them to the sata 2 ports & also kept the SSD on SATA 2 BIOS can see them but they dont come up in windows...
 
Yeah, that's the problem. That board uses a Marvell SATA3 which supports R0 & R1 and you created and maintained the R0 on that chip. You moved them to the intel chipset ports, which also support R0 & R1, but only arrays setup in the intel chipset. You MIGHT get lucky in that if you move the 2 drives back to their previous ports (and it is important which drive is on which port, matching their original positions) AND the chipset kept the RAID info intact AND nothing was accidentally written (signatures, etc) to the drives. If that doesn't work, your next option would be using something like RaidReconstructor http://runtime.org/raid.htm which may be able to recover the data regardless of where the drives are attached. In any case, you will be MUCH happier leaving the SSD connected to the intel 3G ports instead of the Marvell 6g port. The intel CPU/PCH ports are much faster for boot/OS operations, and 99% of your time your SSD is doing random higher-queue-depth transfers which don't come close to SATA1 speeds, let alone SATA3 and not large sequential transfers.

You should put the SSD back on the Intel ports. Even though the Intel ports are SATA II they are faster then the Marvell SATA III ports where it counts (latency and random access).
 
Yes dresch I have the SSD on sata 2 ports. I just put the 2 7200 hdds on the sata 3 & they are accessible to a degree. The folder I was looking for on the drive is not accessible for some reason. Now how to i get them to revert back to non raid 0? I want them to be two seperate drives in case one fails I wont lose all my data.
 
Yea I had to search but found what I needed on the drive. Now I want to wipe the drive & take the RAID 0 off. Do I just format & plug them back into SATA 2 ports? Or how do I get rid of the RAID 0 setup
 
I would leave them connected where they are then go into the BIOS and destroy the raid array.

I deleted the raid array but in BIOS it still shows up as RAID 0...Wth? Now in windows the drives dont show up at all
 
See if turning raid off in the bios fixes that. Set the SATA mode for the controller that you are using to AHCI.
 
ok that didnt fix it...However, I went through computer management in windows & both drives show up there. It is asking me what sort of drive I want to create Simple, spanned, or striped. Which one should I choose if this is just a backup drive with a few programs on it that I dont use often & also for movies/music ect? Should I also move these two drives back to SATA 2 instead of SATA 3 ports?
Also I noticed windows created a system reserved partition what is that?
