Hard drive installation help

Hey guys, I just got my samsung 2504C 3.0gb (my motherboard is a gigabyte GA-K8NNXP-940) hard drive and pluged in the sata interface cables and power cables and then flipped my computer on. At the start up it showed both my WD36 (the :C drive) and the samsung (my new 2nd hd) being recognized. As the computer continued to boot up (very slowly) every thing seemed fine. However I do not see the drive under my computer or the disk management utility for formating.

As you can probably tell I am new to installing hard drives, what am I missing here?
