well, my friend is actually having a problem with his 750gb ata seagate hard drive. ok so as some of you know, the power around seattle went out for a couple of days around thursday-sunday. My friend, had a tree fall on his house so they took some stuff with them to the airport hotel. (including the hard drive that he took out of his computer and put into an external drive bay thing). so now he came back to his house, and plugs it in, and it says that it needs to be formatted. any idea whats up?

in short-
friend took out his hard drive, moved it around a little bit in an external hard drive caddy thing. he gets back, it says it needs to be formatted. he doesnt want to format and lose all the data. can he get it back to normal without formatting it?

Did he use it at all with another computer? Is the enclosure a USB thing or just a box? Does it work in another machine? What's Disk Management show? Does it spin up?

yea it was being used on another computer. it was a usb enclosure thing lol. i only tried it with my tower and the laptop. i havnt used disk managment, but when i feel it its warm and i think its spinning
