What kind of hard drive should I get? I now have a WD Gold, but it is only 6TB and I want to upgrade to at least a 14 probably more. I know there are hds specific to the task, but is it worth it to go say Exos, Toshiba MG series, Ultrastar, etc over the Skyhawk AI, WD purple pro or Red.
 
The WDC Purple is the "Surveilance" drive. That said, it is the essentially the same drive as another WDC non-NAS/Enterprise with a small firmware modification tuned to expect write-heavy workloads and be more tolerant for errors.
