Hard Drive Died - Need Help

Ok the last backup I made was May 1st. But between that time I have saved several contracts (worth millions, and I am not exaggerating) on the hard drive along with many extremely important business related emails and letters. I am desperate. It is a Maxtor 40GB HD. It makes clicking sounds off and on, and the bios won't even recognize that it exists. Is there a company I can send it to that can retrieve the data or some things I can try myself first? I have tried all sorts of jumper settings, hooked it up as the only drive on the computer and all sorts of configurations and it still won't recognize it. Also do you think it's possible that my webserver host can restore the emails that have been sent and recieved or is that not legal for any company to do?
 
Souds like the ASIC or processor on the PCB died. You could try getting a PCB from an equivalent drive and switching them out. It may even work fine after that.

There are also companies around that can do data recovery on dead drives. I dont know of any offhand, but I know they generally charge a lot.
