My hard drive is dying it seems. It is a maxtor 160gb Sata150 drive and it is being very slow to access and causes the computer not to reboot even though the OS is on a WD36gb. When I turn it off the computer boots right up without problem. So unless you guys think different, I think it is dying (it has lost some data as well and has some errors when scanned).
So I am looking for a new drive, but I am not that experienced in knowing what to choose. My motherboard is a Gigabyte K8NNXP-940. Does this limit my selections at all? I didn't know if the new harddrive features such as 3gb/s, 16mb things prevent compatability. I want to keep the cost under $100. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I have looked at Seagate 7200.9 300gb and some samsungs. I have no brand bias so recommend at will!
