I have seen a few threads here about watercooling HDD's but haven't seen many people respond with what current system they are using...

I run a 7/16" tubed system, so i'm looking for a good block to cool my raptor 74gb drive that uses 1/2" barbs. I don't think i've found a hdd cooler yet that uses the larger barbs.

anyone use a hdd cooler in their 1/2" system?

Wait one month and DangerDen will have their acetal-topped harddrive waterblocks for sale. They should be $50. Just like DD's other blocks, you can use 3/8" and 1/2" tubing. Your 7/16" tubing will slip over the 1/2" barbs with a little effort.

The only coolers that will currently work with your system are made in Europe. The Watercool Silentstar, Aqua Computer Aquadrive, Aquadrive Micro, and Aquadrive LT would probably work out. However, the threads on the Aqua Computer gear has G 1/8 threads so the maximum hose size would be 3/8". The Silentstar I believe has G 1/4 threads so you could go 1/2" with those coolers. Aqua Computer gear is fairly well stocked here in the USA, but Watercool stuff is special ordering or get it from Europe.

what a twist!

and a shame... i am making every effort to run a virtually silent PC - and the fact that there is little to NO airflow in my case makes running a raptor without active cooling a tad hard...

anyone have experience with the Astek Waterchill or Koolance HydraPak? the fact that they dont fit 1/2" makes it quite annoying.

You might enjoy Feeding Frenzy if you are interested in HD watercooling. Interesting isn't it that all the HD coolers are made for low to moderate flow systems, heh?

Excelent I wanst gona use lexan based or alluminim tops, Iam building my system all copper. The only option for the HD block was the alphacool copper block but I gave up due to the G1/8" threads. Will be waiting...
