Hello. I have a bit of a problem. My computer, that was built by Dell (you can save the chastising for after the problem is resolved), only has one IDE spot on the Motherboard, but two SATA ports. It came with an 80 gig SATA drive (Maxtor).
I have a 160 GB (WD) IDE hard drive that I need to install. I would like for both CD Rom and the Hard drive to work, in harmony.
This is, sadly, not the case. When I take both off and only connect the hard drive (as a master) to the IDE cable, it doesn't recgonize the drive. It did, once, however, and I was suprised, but then the machine got rebooted, and it went away.
Is there any kind of way I can get this to work?

Edit: currently I have it set up so that the CD Drive is master and the Hard drive is slave. Windows recgonizes neither.
Edit2: Fixed. Thank you for helping.
