hard drive "clicks" and pc restarts......

I just got Call of Duty: United Offensive and when I run it my hard drive "clicks" kinda loud and the game freezes up momentarily. This happens a few more times and then the PC will just restart. The computer has been having much longer boot up times and shut down times and seems quite a bit more sluggish. I know the reason for this is NOT because of the game. This system handles Far Cry and Doom 3 quite well. I am positive it is the hard drive that's goin bad. (Western Digital 160GB SATA) Is there any possibility that it could be my PSU goin bad or lacking enough juice? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!! :confused:
 
take the hard drive out completely, give it a little shake, if it clicks then the drive is gonna die, if it makes a noise like scratchy it should be ok
 
It actually does both. When it begins to get any strain on it, (open a program) it sounds like it starts to spin extremely hard. Then it will click. There is no chance that the PSU is goin bad on me?
 
The click is the drive resetting itself. Could be a variety of things causing this, can't say much more without a better description of the noise.
 
could be heat, could be bad power, could be just a bad drive... try the cheapest rout first and borrow a freinds PSU or something... or even better, a power condition, then try the HD in someone elses computer. try with case panel off, and at the very end, backup everything and see if it dies anytime soon
